Mark Prior dominated striking out 10 Pittsburgh batters as the Chicago (NL)
Cubs defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates by the score of 4 to 0 at Wrigley
Field.

Prior(2-0) pitched one of his finer games as he simply was too much for the
Pittsburgh batters. He was stingy on the mound, allowing just 5 hits and 1
walk in 9 innings lowering his ERA to 1.50. Both teams' bats went to sleep
after the 1st inning with no runs scored after that point.

The losing pitcher was Kris Benson(0-1). When asked about his strikeout total
for the game, Prior offered, 'The fan's really got into it. It is fun to see
them tally up the strikeout totals up there in the stands. Fortunately, I
kept them busy this afternoon - of course, it would be all for naught without
the 'W'.'
